Adopt an Angel

Instead of a classroom gift exchange, Linwood Elementary students Adopt-an Angel through coordination with the Basehor-Linwood Assistance Services. Our students will provide holiday gift assistance for three individual children this year. The focus is on the spirit of giving and helping others. All classrooms will participate as follows:

Each student is asked to bring at least $2.00 by November 25th. Our goal is to raise $300, so if you are able to make a larger contribution, it would be very much appreciated.

Our student council will work with BLAS on understanding the needs of these ≥angels≈. They will then go shopping on December 5th to purchase clothing and fun items that will be picked up by BLAS for delivery.

We will discuss the importance of actual names remaining anonymous and that the importance of what we are doing comes from knowing we have helped someone regardless of who it is.

This project has been very successful. It focuses on helping with community needs rather than emphasizing receiving. At the same time, it is obvious that our students are not ignored as they will be enjoying their winter break activities and refreshments.
