New Elementary School

The new elementary school is to be built on 12 acres southeast of 155th and Hickory streets. The site has been donated to the district by Jerry and Ruth Ann Mussett in cooperation with Affinity Development, Inc. The school will be administered as part of Basehor Elementary and will serve the intermediate grades three through five. The estimated cost of the new elementary school will be $11,450,000 and have a capacity of 400 students.

New Middle School

The new middle school is to be built on land recently purchased by the district across 158th Street from Glenwood Ridge. This site was selected because of the contour of the land, access to a main traffic artery, relative proximity of utilities, central location, and availability of acreage. The middle school will serve grades six through eight and have a capacity of 700 students. The estimated cost of $24,800,000 will include cost of land, site development, including athletic fields and construction.

Addition to Glenwood Ridge Elementary School

The addition to Glenwood Ridge Elementary School will provide six new classrooms including room for music, restrooms, conversion of the existing kindergarten room to an art room, and remodeling the present entrance and office to provide more security. Glenwood Ridge will continue to serve grades kindergarten through five. The estimated cost of the addition and remodeling is $2,500,000.

Renovations to Linwood Elementary School

Renovations at Linwood Elementary School call for the relocation of the office area to near the first floor entrance. This will improve access to the building and provide better security for students. The estimated cost for these improvements is $750,000. Moving seventh and eighth grade students to the new middle school will allow Linwood Elementary to recapture classrooms lost in recent years because of increased enrollment. The elementary grades will no longer need to share library, lunchroom, computer lab, etc. with older students.

Construction of a Soccer Field

The new soccer field will be developed on the high school site on acreage already owned by the district. It will include grading, planting sod, small bleachers, and adequate lighting for one field. The estimated cost for the new soccer field is $400,000.
